Small scale successes

Updated: Aug 23, 2022

I have achieved success with the printer! I managed to fully print some of my pieces, and could not be happier with the patterns and how they came out. I decided to scale up a couple of pieces and the larger scale really brought out the human shape of them, especially the one with the sort of "knitted" texture. The pattern suddenly became bunches of muscle under skin instead of the initially intended leaf look. I have always seen my pieces through an anthropomorphic lens, with each form having its own journey and personality through its creation in the digital world, and as it is printed layer by layer.

I was also very fascinated with the texture on the inside of the pieces, and it has inspired me to change my digital shapes, both scaling them up, and cutting off the problematic bottoms and tops, leaving the inside exposed. I hope to bring a more purposeful human form connection with these new forms, as I already have the classic female hourglass shape, but I want to incorporate more of the heavier folds, dimples, and curves into the mix.
